Get To Know SOPHIA

My journey into tutoring began organically by helping classmates prepare for exams. After one session, a parent shared that I had helped her daughter more in twenty minutes than her previous tutor had in a month. That feedback led to more students seeking my support, and what began as informal peer help quickly evolved into a purposeful and rewarding tutoring practice. I find great fulfillment in sharing my passion for learning and equipping students with the strategies and confidence they need to thrive.

Academically, I maintain a 4.5 GPA—a reflection of consistent effort, strong study habits, and a deep love of learning. I am a member of the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, and California Scholarship Federation, and currently serve as president of three student-led clubs at Cathedral Catholic High School. This fall, I will also be inducted into the French Honor Society. Beyond the classroom, I am gaining hands-on experience through an internship at Palomar/Pomerado Hospital, which supports my long-term goal of pursuing a career in medicine.

I am also the founder of the You Are Loved Club, a student-led initiative at Cathedral dedicated to supporting students impacted by substance abuse. I created the club to offer a safe, compassionate space where students can feel seen, heard, and valued. Through advocacy, peer support, and community outreach, I hope to foster a culture of empathy, resilience, and connection on campus.

Get To Know PARKER

Parker’s journey into tutoring began organically. Sophia often joked that he was her personal AP World History tutor and insisted he help her prepare for every AP exam. Word quickly spread about his extensive knowledge of history and his talent for crafting outstanding DBQs and SAQs. AP History isn’t just about knowing the subject matter—it’s about writing at a college level, and Parker excels at teaching both content and composition.

But Parker is far more than just a history enthusiast. He’s also mathematically inclined and currently enrolled in the STEAM program at Cathedral Catholic High School, with plans to graduate with an engineering distinction. He balances his rigorous academic schedule while excelling as a student-athlete, competing on both the Varsity Football and Varsity Wrestling teams—all while maintaining an impressive 4.2 GPA. He is also a member of the English Honor Society, reflecting his strong writing skills and well-rounded academic achievements.

In addition to his academic and athletic accomplishments, Parker is deeply committed to community impact. He is the co-president and co-founder of the You Are Loved Club, a student-led initiative he launched with Sophia to support students affected by substance abuse. Through both his leadership and compassion, Parker continues to make a meaningful difference on and off campus.

Our team

Sophia and Parker are the dedicated tutors behind Sophia’s Learning Lab, both excelling academically and sharing a deep passion for learning. They met during the first week of freshman year and quickly discovered that, while they take the same rigorous course load, their strengths perfectly complement each other. Sophia thrives in science and French, bringing enthusiasm and clarity to even the most complex topics, while Parker is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to history—AP World might as well be his second language. Both have a strong foundation in math, making them a dynamic duo equipped to support students across a wide range of subjects with skill, empathy, and experience.
